LUCRECE
LUCRECE is raped by Tarquin, the King's son. She chooses to tell her story and demand justice and revenge rather than remain silent. Her courage leads to the overthrow of the monarchy, and the founding of the Roman republic.
Following a critically acclaimed run in India, THE SHAKESPEARE EDIT performed this thrilling adaptation of Shakespeare's epic poem at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August 2019.
Meher Mistry - Chorus, Lucy Briggs-Owen - Lucrece, Portia van de Braam - Chorus.
LUCRECE was co-produced with the NATIONAL CENTRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS MUMBAI, and presented as a one-off festival performance in 2017 with a mixed UK/Indian cast. It was revived as part of the inaugural NCPA theatre season with an Indian cast in December 2018, and subsequently presented in Edinburgh in 2019.
